Bulgaria Has Called on EU to Prepare for Reaction if Turkey Fulfills Threat to Open Borders for Migrants - Foreign Minister Mitov

Brussels, December 7 (BTA Correspondent Nikolay Jeliazkov) - Bulgaria has called upon the European Commission to begin working on Plan "B" if the rhetorics on the part of Turkey acquire real dimensions, outgoing Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov told Bulgarian journalists in Brussels. He was commenting on Ankara's statements that it may open the borders to the EU for the migrants on Turkish territory.

Mitov said this point hopefully will not be reached, but policy cannot be based only on hopes. At national level Bulgaria is taking all possible measures to limit the migration flows, he added.

The Foreign Minister said that NATO is called upon to monitor the situation with migration in the Black Sea and that so far there is no indication of any tension there.

Commenting on the information of a possible terrorist attack in Bulgaria, Mitov noted that the Bulgarian services are working on the subject. Such communications are monitored constantly and the services are on standby to react to such threats, he added.
