President Radev: Bulgaria Does not Give, but Also Does not Accept Lessons on Democracy

Sofia, March 23 (BTA) - Bulgaria does not give, but also does not accept lessons on democracy, especially from countries that do not observe the rule of law, said President Rumen Radev here on Thursday in response to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's earlier comment about the upcoming Bulgarian general elections and how this country exerts serious pressure on its citizens of Turkish origin.

"Each statesman must learn the history and geography lessons," Radev said.

"I would like to assure you that the elections in Bulgaria will be held smoothly," the Bulgarian head of State said.

Radev noted that Bulgaria is a European country that goes by its own laws and not the emotions of others.

President Radev spoke before journalists in Sofia Hotel Balkan. "I am here to honour the national holiday of our neighbour, partner and friend Greece - the cradle of democracy," he said.
