Yes, Bulgaria Leader: 'The More Shortlived New Parliament, The Better for Bulgarian Democracy

Sofia, March 28 (BTA) - "The incumbent Parliament should be shortlived: the shorter its existence, the better for the Bulgarian democracy," Yes, Bulgaria Leader Hristo Ivanov told a news conference on Tuesday.

In his opinion, the incumbent Parliament could not represent anyone but the status quo. The only thing, which the new National Assembly could do is respond to the citizens' wish for a change of the election system and then disband.

Ivanov said that Yes, Bulgaria does not support virtually the questions of the referendum but people's spirit and will for more responsibility in politics, greater majoritarian representation and a clearer provision about the subsidies.

The Yes, Bulgaria leader urged Boyko Borissov not to take the prime ministerial position because he has proven harmful for the Bulgarian democracy and that he cannot implement changes and reforms.

Bulgaria needs a huge change. The Bulgarian democracy needs to be urgently revived, he commented.

Ivanov also said that the recent developments, related to the Right, are the final payment of the price for the coalition model of the Reformist Bloc. Not every coalition results in an increase of votes and the Bloc sets an example to this end.

"The effort for the creation of a big democratic community is bigger. We can no more take the liberty of relying on Brussels to be a guarantor of our democracy," Hristo Ivanov also said.

"We managed to mobilize considerable human resources and keep on being the most serious alternative to the model of the status quo," he noted adding that this is not enough for the party and is not considered as an achievement but as a commitment for moving forward.

"We have shown that Yes, Bulgaria has a very big potential and consider this as a commitment and big responsibility," Ivanov concluded.
