Central Election Commission Declares Official Results of March 26 Elections: 95 Seats for GERB, 80 Seats for BSP, 27 Seats for United Patriots

Sofia, March 30 (BTA) - The Central Election Commission (CEC) Thursday declared the official results of the voting in the early parliamentary elections and the allocation of seats in the 44th National Assembly by party and coalitions countrywide and in the separate constituencies.

Three parties and two coalitions crossed the 4 per cent electoral threshold to Parliament in these elections, which the CEC set at 136,820.96 valid votes (excluding the votes for independent candidates and the None Of The Above votes):

- GERB Party: 1,147,292 valid votes (32.65 per cent), 95 seats;
- BSP for Bulgaria Coalition: 955,490 valid votes (27.19 per cent), 80 seats;
- United Patriots Coalition (National Front for Salvation of Bulgaria, Ataka and Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization): 318,513 valid votes (9.07 per cent), 27 seats;
- Movement for Rights and Freedoms Party: 315,976 valid votes (8.99 per cent), 26 seats;
- Volya Party: 145,637 valid votes (4.15 per cent), 12 seats.

Of the entrants which did not clear the 4 per cent barrier, the Reformist Bloc Coalition garnered 107,407 votes (3.06 per cent), the Yes Bulgaria Movement Coalition 101,177 votes (2.88 per cent), the DOST Coalition 100,479 votes (2.86 per cent), the New Republic Coalition 86,984 votes (2.48 per cent), the ABV-Movement 21 Coalition 54,412 votes (1.55 per cent), and the Vuzrazhdane Party 37,896 votes (1.08 per cent).

When they were delivered to the section election commissions, the electoral rolls listed 6,810,341 eligible voters. Of these, 3,682,151 took part in the voting (54.07 per cent voter turnout). Of the 3,682,493 ballots found in the ballot boxes, 3,513,419 were valid votes and 169,009 invalid votes, said CEC Chairperson Ivilina Alexieva.

None of the nine independent candidates who ran in the March 26 elections were elected. The best performing of them, Georgi Kadiev, received 2,270 valid votes or 1 per cent of the total in his Multimember Constituency No. 23 (Sofia City).

A total of 87,850 voters or 2.50 per cent validly marked the None Of The Above square on their ballots.
