Food Prices Decrease over Past Week

Sofia, April 2 (BTA) - In the week until March 31, the food wholesale market index fell by 0.82 per cent to 1.458 points, the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Wholesale Markets reported.

Over the week in review, the average wholesale price of imported greenhouse-grown tomatoes increased by 3.3 per cent to 1.90 leva per kilogramme. Bulgarian greenhouse-grown tomatoes were traded at 2.54 lv/kg. The price of imported greenhouse-grown cucumbers rose by 9.8 per cent to 2.12 lv/kg, while that of Bulgarian greenhouse-grown cucumbers fell by 11.6 per cent to 2.43 lv/kg.

Potatoes rose by 2.7 per cent to 0.75 lv/kg. Carrots were selling at 1.05 lv/kg. Cabbage was traded at 0.65 lv/kg. Lettuce went down by 4.2 per cent to 0.68 lv/piece.

Apples fell by 2.4 per cent to 1.21 lv/kg. Lemons rose by 1.0 per cent to 2.11 lv/kg. Oranges were traded at 1.34 lv/kg. Tangerines were selling at 1.55 lv/kg, and bananas at 2.22 lv/kg.

The average wholesale price of white brined cheese from cow's milk decreased by 0.08 lv/kg to 5.56 lv/kg. Yellow kashkaval cheese of the Vitosha type was traded at 10.12 lv/kg. Sunflower oil was selling at 2.07 lv/litre. Kaima minced meat was traded at 4.57 lv/kg. Frozen chicken went up by 1.1 per cent to 3.58 lv/kg. Sugar was selling at 1.57 lv/kg. Flour, type 500, went down by 0.01 lv/kg to 0.78 lv/kg. Dry common beans were selling at 3.37 lv/kg. Eggs were traded at 0.19 lv/piece.
