Finance, Transport and Justice Ministries Rank High in Transparency - Study

Sofia, April 5 (BTA) - The ministries of Finance, Transport and Justice are among the highest rated in terms of transparency, shows an analysis conducted under the Access to Information Programme. The ministries of Tourism, Economy and Culture are at the bottom of the chart.

This year institutions have developed favourably towards active transparency, Gergana Zhuleva, who heads the Access to Information Program told a BTA-hosted news conference Wednesday.

Among the most transparent municipalities are Bansko (Southwest Bulgaria), Beloslav (Northeast Bulgaria), and Razgrad (Northeast Bulgaria). The least transparent municipalities are Tran (West Bulgaria), Zemen (West Bulgaria) and Yakimovo (Northwest Bulgaria).

The State Agency for Technical operations, the Customs Agency, the Communications Regulation Commission and the Electronic Media Council were ranked among the most transparent institutions.

The Access to Information Programme has reviewed and assessed 566 web pages of administrative structures of the central, regional and local authorities, public-private entities, obliged to provide information between February 7 and March 31. A total of 566 electronic information requests were submitted to various institutions as part of the study.
