Sofia, July 13 (BTA) - In the early hours of Thursday, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry has been notified by the Executive Director of the Levski Sofia football club about an altercation between Levski fans and fans of the Hajduk Split football club in the Croatian city of Zadar, as a result of which a car belonging to the Bulgarian fans was set ablaze, the Foreign Ministry reported.

Bulgaria's Ambassador to Croatia Tanya Dimitrova and Consul Hristina Bidjeranova have arrived at the location of the incident.

According to Croatian police, four Levski fans were involved in an altercation with fans of the Hajduk Split team on Wednesday during the day, after which they went to Zadar to spend the night, where their car was set on fire on the night to Thursday.

The police has detained a total of 22 Levski fans, who might have been involved in a series of clashes with local fans of the opposing team in the past 24 hours. No serious injuries are reported among the Bulgarian citizens, except for three of them who sustained minor bodily injuries and were treated at a local hospital.

A translator has been provided with help from the Bulgarian Embassy to assist in the questioning of the detained Bulgarian fans.

Levski Sofia is in Croatia to play against Hajduk Split in UEFA Europa League's second qualifying round match on Thursday evening. The Bulgarian Embassy will provide full assistance to the Bulgarian football fans, the press release said.
