Sofia, August 8 (BTA) - As at the end of July the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works had paid a total of 235,987,521.60 leva to the Bulgarian Development Bank for a total of 232 retrofitted multifamily residential buildings under the National Programme for Energy Efficiency. This transpired from a report of Regional Development Minister Nikolai Nankov to National Assembly Chairman Dimiter Glavchev issued in
accordance with a parliamentary decision as of June 2017, Nankov's Ministry said.

The payments to the Bulgarian Development Bank started in June on the basis of an agreement between the Ministry and the Bank. A total of 9,977,621.74 leva were paid already during the same month for 10 renovated buildings. The amount of 226,009,899.86 leva were paid in July for 222 fully retrofitted buildings.

As at the middle of July, the renovation of 1,982 buildings was ongoing. 515 multifamily buildings of a total developed area of 2,489,433.92 were completed as at mid-July. A total of 62,252 people live in the 29,915 renovated houses.


The Region of Bourgas has the highest number of renovated houses (236), followed by Blagoevgrad with 189 and Haskovo with 180.
