Sofia, August 31 (BTA) - The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Ivaylo Moskovski, has ordered the Directorate General Civil Aviation Administration to act on a growing number of complaints from passengers bumped from Wizz Air flights to and from Bulgaria, the Ministry said Thursday.

The Hungarian low-cost airline will be subject to SAFA (Safety Assessment of Foreign Aircraft) inspections, which include flight safety, the technical condition of aircraft, documentation and crews. The company will also be checked for meeting its obligation to guarantee passengers' rights.

The Bulgarian authorities cannot run a comprehensive check on an air carrier registered on the territory of another country.

The Directorate General Civil Aviation Administration will send an official request to the Hungarian aviation authorities supervising Wizz Air for a thorough inspection of the airline and an explanation for the overbooked flights.
