Geneva/Sofia, March 25 (BTA) - National Assembly Chairperson Tsveta Karayancheva conferred with the Chairperson of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan. The two met within the 138th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, held in Geneva, the Bulgarian National Assembly said in a press release Sunday.

The two Parliament speakers discussed opportunities to intensify the parliamentary dialogue and the economic ties between Bulgaria and Vietnam.

Karayancheva said that Vietnam is a friend and an extremely important partner of Bulgaria in South Asia. She said that the dynamic political dialogue between the two countries is a prerequisite for the further expansion of the bilateral relations in many spheres.

The participants in the talks said that the two countries should work to reverse the considerable drop in the two-way commercial exchange in 2017. It was noted that the activation of the dialogue between the two friendship groups in the parliaments of the two countries can play the primary role in this effort.

Vietnam is interested in increasing the exchange in education. The participants in the talks noted that many key posts in business and the public administration in Vietnam are occupied by Vietnamese persons who had earned their university degrees in Bulgaria.
