Sofia, April 4 (BTA) - Another 25 projects will be funded under the URBACT III European Territorial Cooperation programme (2014-2020), the Regional Development Ministry said Wednesday. The projects were approved at a meeting of the programme's Monitoring Committee in Sofia, chaired by Deputy Regional Development Minister Denitsa Nikolova. Bulgaria is hosting the meeting in its capacity as EU Council President.

The approved projects include two Bulgarian ones, in the municipalities of Bourgas (on the Black Sea) and Troyan (Central Bulgaria). Their financial value will be detailed at a later stage.

Bourgas won financing for a project participating in a community building of a network to achieve Blue Growth goals for sustainable growth in the marine and maritime sectors. Troyan municipality will partner with other municipalities in an initiative for a territorial agri-food policy.

URBACT III has a total budget of 96 million euro. Three procedures for project and funding approval have been carried out so far, the Ministry said. Twenty projects were approved in the first wave of calls for proposals, including four with Bulgarian partners: Bourgas with two, Varna (on the Black Sea) and Smolyan (Southern Bulgaria) with one each. Two projects of Sofia Municipality were approved in the second wave of proposals. Yet another call for proposals will probably be announced by the end of the programme period.
