Washington, D. C./Sofia, April 17 (BTA) - Bulgarian National Assembly Chairperson Tsveta Karayancheva spoke at the Global Parliamentary Conference taking place in Washington, D.C., the Bulgarian National Assembly said in a press release Tuesday.

The event is co-organized by the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund at the World Bank Group headquarters. Budget and Finance Committee Chairperson Menda Stoyanova is also attending.

In her speech at the forum, Karayancheva dwelled on the legal measures in the fight against corruption.

Karayancheva also met with World Bank's Chief Executive Officer Kristalina Georgieva. The two noted that Bulgaria has managed to include the European perspective of the Western Balkans on the EU agenda during the ongoing Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council. Karayancheva welcomed the World Bank's interest in participating in transport projects in the Western Balkans, while Georgieva stressed the need to improve transport links and make use of the potential of the IT sector in the region.
