site.btaBulgaria Supports UNICEF's Mission to Guarantee Equal Access to Quality Education of Each Child

Sofia, April 17 (BTA) - Bulgaria and UNICEF share a common position about the need to achieve sustainability in the teaching and learning process of all children and guaranteeing inclusive education for children with disabilities, it emerged after a meeting here Tuesday between President Rumen Radev and UNICEF Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Afshan Khan, Radev's press secretariat said.

The two discussed the priority areas for partnership set out in UNICEF's Programme for Bulgaria in 2018-2022, where the efforts will be focused on early child development, the system of public care for children, inclusive pre-school and school education, prevention of violence, protection of child crime victims, juvenile justice, and promotion of the rights of the child in Bulgaria and the world.

During the meeting Radev said that Bulgaria's results in the process of deinstitutionalization of child care, the development of alternative social services, foster care, and return of school drop-outs are proof of the excellent cooperation between UNICEF and this country.

Khan expressed support for Bulgaria's readiness to become a regional centre of UNICEF for exchange of good practices in the achievement of sustainable development of all children.
