Brussels, April 19 (BTA corr. Nikolai Jeliazkov) - The meeting in May in Sofia between heads of state and government of EU member states and the countries in the Western Balkans is very important for the future of the Balkans, a spokesman of the EC said on Thursday.

Taking a question, he said that the invitations for the meeting have been sent out. For the time being the EC is not announcing the list of participants in the meeting.

The spokesman said that work is going on together with the Council of the EU and the Bulgarian EU Presidency for the success of the meeting. The event is scheduled to be held on May 16 and 17 in Sofia.
