Sofia, December 5 (BTA) - Between January 1 and December 2, 2018, Bulgaria exported 7,216,263 MWh of electricity, which is by 40.89 per cent more compared to the same period of 2017, show data of the country's Electricity System Operator. Electricity production grew by 1.74 per cent to reach 41,363,392 MWh, while consumption dropped by 3.79 percentage points to 36,241,504 MWh.

Between January 1 and December 2, the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plan and the thermal power plants Maritsa East 2, AES Gulubovo and ContourGlobal Maritsa East 3 produced a total of 34,500,350 MWh of electricity, which is by 2.44 per cent less compared to the same period of 2017.

The participation of renewable energy sources in the distribution grid decreased by 6.57 percentage points to 1,117,282 MWh.

Wind power production decreased by 6.26 per cent to 645,295 MWh.

Photovoltaic power plants produced 355,971 MWh of electricity, down by 0.97 per cent from January 1-December 2, 2017.

Biomass-fired power plants produced 147,985 MWh of energy, which is an annual decrease by 21.60 percentage points.
