Traffic is heavy at some of the border crossings with Romania, Serbia, Greece and Turkiye, as reported by the General Directorate Border Police's website early Friday.

At the border with Romania, there is heavy traffic for trucks exiting Bulgaria through the Kardam, Nikopol, Oryahovo and Durankulak border control checkpoints.

Due to repair works of the Giurgiu-Ruse bridge over the Danube on the Bulgarian side, traffic is controlled by traffic lights to let vehicles through in stages. Alternative routes can go through the checkpoints at Silistra, Kardam, Durankulak, Kaynardzha or Krushari. Kaynardzha or Krushari are open daily between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., and lorries are not allowed through them.

At the border crossings with Greece, there is heavy traffic for passenger cars leaving Bulgaria through the Kulata crossing.

Considering the heavy traffic at the Kulata and Makaza checkpoints, travelers are advised if possible to use alternative routes through the Ilinden, Zlatograd or Kapitan Petko Voyvoda checkpoints, depending on their destination.

Only passenger cars and vans are allowed through the border crossings Makaza, Zlatograd and Ivaylovgrad.

At the border with Serbia, there is heavy traffic for passenger cars entering Bulgaria through the Kalotina checkpoint.

At the border with Turkiye, there is heavy traffic for passenger cars entering through the Kapitan Andreevo crossing.

Traffic at the border crossings with North Macedonia is normal.
