Montenegrin European Integration


Sofia, April 23 (BTA) - Bulgaria strongly supports the European integration of Montenegro and considers it the most advanced of Western Balkan countries in this respect, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva said, as quoted by her Ministry on Tuesday. She was speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Montenegrin Agency for Prevention of Corruption, headed by Goranka Vucinic, President of the Council of the Agency.

Opening negotiation chapters is difficult, but closing them is even more difficult; mainly evaluated is the entire progress made in fighting corruption, Zaharieva pointed out.

Zaharieva, who also chairs the Anti-Corruption Policy National Council, acquainted the Montenegrin representatives with the ways in which the institutions engaged in fighting corruption in Bulgaria operate.

The Foreign Minister underscored Bulgaria's readiness to help and support Montenegro on its way to the EU.

Vucinic expressed gratitude for the opportunity to meet with the Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, and to exchange experience with colleagues from Bulgaria's anti-corruption institutions.

Bulgaria has very good practices in this field, Vucinic also said, and expressed hope to exchange experience with them and receive their support . /BR
