August 12 (BTA) - A growth of 2.9 per cent was reported in revenues from overnight stays in accommodation places with 10 beds and more, as well as in the total number of people who spent a night there. The information comes from data published by the National Statistical Institute for the period January-June 2019, which was cited on Monday by the Tourism Ministry.

Revenues from overnight stays across Bulgaria in the first half of the year exceeded 484 million leva. Proceeds from Bulgarians went up by 12.1 per cent compared to 2018, a record year for this country's tourism industry.

People who stayed overnight in accommodation places with 10 beds and more in the first six months of 2019 totalled 3,257,530, a growth of 2.9 per cent year-on-year. On this index, the number of Bulgarians increased by 4.3 per cent compared to January-June 2018.

Only in June this year, over one million people stayed overnight in accommodation places with 10 beds and more, with a growth of 4 per cent compared to June 2018. Of these, 408,187 were Bulgarians and 620,597 were foreigners, with an increase of 4.9 per cent and 3.5 per cent respectively. Revenues of accommodation places with 10 beds and more totalled 205.4 million leva in June 2019. IG/TH
