site.btaBulgarian Hotels to Host First German Medical Tourists
September 27 (BTA) - Twenty-six Bulgarian hotels and spa
centres have been approved by German health insurance companies
and will be able to host health insured Germans from Saturday,
said Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova. These places have met
Bulgarian and German requirements for the provision of health
rehabilitation services, she added.
At the opening of the sixth annual congress of the Bulgarian
Union of Balneology and SPA Tourism, Angelkova said that Germany
is among key markets for Bulgaria. The Minister said an
agreement with the Association of German Health Insurance
Companies has been signed and Bulgaria has been given the green
light to work with German health insurers.
AHK Bulgarien CEO Mitko Vassilev told the forum that with joint
efforts Bulgaria has been put on the map of German national
insurance funds and that the project has been in the works for
two years.
Siyka Katsarova, President of the Bulgarian Union of Balneology
and SPA Tourism,
said that Bulgaria's positioning on the European market is their
main goal.
Ivo Marinov, head of the tourism agency with the Sofia
Municipality said that under the capital's master plan a total
of 35 hydrothermal centres will be renovated or built. RY/PP
