site.bta10,000 Take Part in European Week of Sports in Bulgaria

September 29 (BTA) - The fifth edition of the #BEactive European Week of Sport took place in Sofia between September 23 and 30. Over 10,000 people visited the Arena Armeec hall within the #BE ActiveFair, organized by the Youth and Sports Ministry.

This year's campaign aimed to promote sports among young people through various demonstrations. Nearly 5,000 pupils visited the fair and had the chance to meet with the top Bulgarian athletes who acted as ambassadors for the campaign.

Sports Minister Krasen Kralev also took part in a number of demonstrations and met with representatives of sports clubs and visitors at the fair.

The European Week of Sports ended with the second edition of the #BeActiveNight in front of Sofia's National Palace of Culture on September 28. It featured extreme sports and a marathon fast climbing the stairs of the building, among many others.

Bulgaria was one of 42 European countries which took part in the European Week of Sports. A total of 14,000,000 people participated in over 50,000 events.

#BeActive 2019 is part of the European Commission's initiative to promote sports and physical activity of EU citizens.
