January 3 (BTA) - Prime Minister Boyko Borissov inspected construction of the Balkan Stream gas pipeline from Selanovtsi to Gorni Dubnik on Friday and work on the pipeline is progressing on schedule and at full capacity.

Responding to a journalist's question about US sanctions on TurkStream, Borissov said that he "does not answer for Turkey".

The Prime Minister flew on a helicopter from Selanovtsi to Gorni Dubnik and observed the gas pipeline from above for about 45 minutes, pointing out that every day the work progresses by about 5 km.

Borissov stressed that the work is progressing impressively fast. "Bulgaria has complied with all procedures as an EU member: appeals, tenders, everything has been done." He said that the implementation deadlines for the Balkan Stream construction will be met and the whole route will be ready by the end of May.

Together with the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev and Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova participated in the inspection. RY/DT
