Sofia, May 8 (BTA) - "Bulgaria will be among the first countries in the European Union to join the Digital Green Certificate (DGC) programme, as soon as it is launched on June 1 this year," said outgoing Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, emerging from an informal meeting of the EU state and government leaders, the government press service reported.

Borissov pointed out that the successful introduction of the DGC is delivering on one more commitment made to the tourism sector. "The certificate is not intended to obstruct or create inequality," he assured.

"On May 7, we did successful initial testing of the compatibility of the Bulgarian DGC system with those of Sweden, Austria and Romania. Bulgaria successfully used and validated the data from the other countries in the EU," Borissov said, adding that Sweden has confirmed the Bulgarian certificate's compatibility with its own system.
