Sofia, September 9 (BTA) - Customs inspectors in Vidin
(Northwestern Bulgaria) have seized a record large amount of
heroin, nearly 200 kilos, the Customs Agency said. A mobile team
stopped a Polish-registered truck for a check at the Danube
Bridge 2 border checkpoint on September 6. The documents showed
the truck was carrying goods from Turkey to Poland.

When the truck was fully unloaded, 34 boxes of towels were found
to contain over 198 kg of heroin hidden in the boxes' false
bottoms. The drug is valued at 20 million leva at prices used in
domestic distribution.

The District Prosecution Office of Vidin is supervising the
investigative proceedings. VI/DD
