First Bulgarian Plant
Opens in
India

Delhi, December 7 (BTA) - A plant for packaging liquid bitumen
of a Bulgarian-Indian joint venture called Prime Star Petroleum
and Infrastructure opened in the city of Bhiwandi, 25 km from
Mumbai, the Bulgarian Embassy in India said on Sunday. This is
the first large-scale Bulgarian investment in India. It was made
in late November. The plant will work as a subcontractor of the
Indian state-owned petroleum giant Hindustan Petroleum
Corporation, Ltd.

The plant is on an area of 2.8 ha and has a capacity of
packaging 450 t of bitumen per working shift. Bulgaria has
provided investment, engineering and technological assistance in
the project which was implemented for the record-short time of
nine months. The overall commissioning of the plant is managed
by a team of Bulgarian engineers working in situ. In the next
eight years the plant is expected to package more than 1 million
 t of road bitumen.

The project is the first such cooperation between Bulgaria and
India and is in line with the new campaign of the Indian
government "Make In India". The programme is intended to
facilitate investment, foster innovation, enhance skill
development, protect intellectual property and build
best-in-class manufacturing infrastructure. SN /ZH/
