Nuclear Reactor's Operation Interrupted after Electrical Protection System Is Activated
Sofia, January 4 (BTA) - Reactor Unit 6 of the Kozloduy Nuclear
Power Plant went off stream for about seven hours after its
electrical protection system was activated at 8:28 p.m. on
January 3, the plant said.
All systems of the unit reacted according to design algorithms.
The reactor's output rate was stabilized at 40 per cent of
nominal output capacity.
Experts carried out step-by-step checks into the circuits of the
electrical protection system. To be on the safe side, they
replaced some of the system's components.
After the equipment was tested, Reactor Unit 6 was brought back
on stream at 3:48 a.m. on January 4.
The only other operational reactor at Kozloduy, Unit 5, is
operating at full capacity.
No changes were detected in background radiation in the plant's
area.
