Sofia Will Invest Lv 5.5 Mln in Sports Infrastructure in 2015

Sofia, March 5 (BTA) - Sofia plans to invest some 5.5 million
leva in sports infrastructure in 2015, said Thursday Sofia Mayor
Yordanka Fandakova at the unveiling of a conference on leisure
sports and urban infrastructure development at the Sofia Town
Hall.

Attending the forum were Deputy Sports Minister Kalin Kamenov,
Sofia City Council Chairman Elen Gerdzhikov, MEP Andrey Kovachev
and Gian F. Lupattelli, European Capitals and Cities of Sport
Federation President (ACES Europe).

Sofia's title of European Capital of Sport 2018 will contribute
to the development of mass, youth sports and sports for the
elderly, which is high on the agenda of the Sofia Town Hall,
according to Fandakova. She said that some 3 million leva will
be invested in a new park in central Sofia built under the
JESSICA Initiative. Also, school pools and gyms will be
renovated under the Programme for Youth Activities and Sports
and more outdoor gyms will be built in addition to the twenty
that already exist.
