Government Proposes Former Deputy Interior Minister Dimiter Georgiev to Head State Agency
for National Security

Sofia, March 18 (BTA) - The government proposed to President
Rosen Plevneliev to appoint former Deputy Interior Minister
Dimiter Georgiev to head the State Agency for National Security
(SANS), the Cabinet Press Service reported on Wednesday.
Georgiev will replace Vladimir Pisanchev, who resigned as SANS
Chairman on March 6.

Georgiev studied at the Higher Military Transport School and
later earned a master's degree in economics from South-West
University. Between October 1995 and November 2005 he served as
an intelligence officer and an inspector at the National
Bodyguard Service. Later he became an advisor to the Chief
Secretary of the Interior Ministry, holding the rank of police
commissioner.

Between November 2006 and January 2011 Georgiev headed the
International Police Cooperation Directorate, and then served as
Deputy Interior Minister until May 28, 2013. Between October
2013 and April 2014 he was Security Consultant for the Globul
telecom company. Since May 1, 2014 he has been Security Director
for Telenor Bulgaria, which acquired Globul.
