Caretaker Minister of Transport and Communications Georgi Gvozdeykov, who spoke on the Bulgarian National Television here on Tuesday, reported that a third medical helicopter is scheduled to be delivered to Bulgaria by the end of 2024. He added that there has been a delay in the production of the second helicopter, but it should arrive in late October or early November.
The Transport Minister said that Bulgaria's only medical helicopter was not used in the accident in Stara Planina on Monday, in which a father and a child were killed by lightning, and another child survived. The aircraft was unavailable, as it was undergoing mandatory maintenance. As of Tuesday afternoon, the helicopter is back in service.
