European Commission Adopts Decision
to Extend to Bulgaria EUR 10.5 Mln for 2014
Floodings from Solidarity Fund

Sofia, March 25 (BTA) - The European Commission (EC) has adopted
a decision to extend disaster relief to Bulgaria from the
Solidarity Fund. The 10.5 million euro relief is intended to
help after the June 2014 floodings in the country. By April 5,
2015 Bulgaria should receive the funds it has applied for, the
Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works said
Wednesday. The decision was passed after the budget credits were
approved by the European Parliament and the Council.

The funds will be distributed among the worst-hit municipalities
in the regions of Varna, Veliko Turnovo, Dobrich, Kurdzhali,
Bourgas, Sofia region, Gabrovo and Shoumen. Four ministries
which have to submit concrete project proposals will also
receive funds. These will be used to repair public
infrastructure. Contracts will be concluded right after project
approval with an 18-month implementation deadline.
