Indictment against Hristo Bisserov Re-submitted

Sofia, July 28 (BTA) - The Sofia City Prosecution Office
re-submitted an indictment against Hristo Bisserov on Tuesday.
The indictment was first filed in April but in May the Sofia
City Court returned it, asking the Prosecution Office to remove
inconsistencies in its factual part.

The corrected indictment against Bisserov, who was deputy
chairman of the previous parliament and head of the Legal
Affairs Committee, was filed on three counts: serious tax
evasion, failure to report currency transactions, and filing a
false financial statement with the National Audit Office as a
senior official.

In violation of the Natural Persons Income Tax Act, in 2013
Bisserov failed to report a taxable income for 2012 and evaded
taxes of 25,678 leva. On December 12, 2012, he wired money from
his accounts in euro and US dollars to an account in the name of
his stepson Ivailo Glavinkov with a Geneva-based bank. This tax
evasion carries between three and eight years' imprisonment and
forfeiture of part or all of the culprit's assets.

In violation of the Foreign Exchange Act, Bisserov failed to
report currency transactions to the amount of 700,960 leva in
2012 and 2013. Under the Foreign Exchange Act, local natural
persons must report to the central bank their claims on and
liabilities to foreign persons if the sum exceeds 50,000 leva.
This offence carries up to six years' imprisonment or a fine
equivalent to double the amount of the sum and forfeiture of the
 money.

Acting in violation of the Public Disclosure of Senior Public
Officials' Financial Interests Act, Bisserov failed to declare
in 2013 that he held 314,529 US dollars and 82,515 euro in a
bank in Geneva - an offence carrying up to three years'
imprisonment or a fine ranging between 100 and 300 leva.
