Judges from Several Courts in Sofia Stage Protest

Sofia, December 11 (BTA) - The judges from several courts in Sofia staged a protest in front of the Palace of Justice Friday evening. Supreme Court of Cassation President Lozan Panov was also there.

The protestors included magistrates from the Sofia Regional Court, the Sofia City Court, the Sofia Appellate Court and the Supreme Court of Cassation. They were met with applause by around one hundred citizens who had come to support them. Some outstanding lawyers could also be seen among the protestors.
 
The protest was prompted by the Wednesday developments in the National Assembly, when the MPs refused to support constitutional revisions which the Justice Minister has proposed and which have to do with the distribution of the members in the Supreme Judicial Council. Right after the vote, Justice Minister Hristo Ivanov announces his resignation, which was accepted by the Prime Minister
