Sofia Airport Handles Record-high Number of Passengers

Sofia, December 21 (BTA) - A special ceremony on Monday welcomed the four millionth passenger at Sofia Airport. This is the first time when the record of 4 million passengers handled by the airport is beaten before the end of the year. The airport's CEO Hristo Shterionov and other members of the management personally welcomed young Jasmine Christoph and her family who flew in from London.

Shterionov said that the number of passengers handled by the Sofia Airport increased by 6.6 per cent in January-November compared to the like period in 2014, attributed to international air services. Shterionov said also that the number of individual tourists using regular air services increased too, while the most popular destination is London. Passengers from Sofia to London totalled 300,000, which is 16 per cent more than last year. Four airlines fly to and from London, and next year they will increase by one more.

Christoph was given gifts from Sofia Airport and from Emil Delibashev, Commercial Manager Balkans at British Airways. She also got two business class tickets to London.
