Parliament Adopts 138 Laws in 2015

Sofia, December 22 (BTA) - In 2015, the National Assembly adopted 138 laws, 156 resolutions and two statements, show parliamentary records.

The legislature held 131 plenary sittings, of which eleven were extraordinary. Five hundred and seventy bills were tabled, of which 348 by MPs. Some 162 draft resolutions and 16 draft statements were submitted.

Question Time took up 145 hours and 46 minutes. Of these 20 hours were dedicated to blitz Question Time.

MPs submitted a total of 1,699 questions and 123 inquiries, while cabinet members answered 1,353 questions and 74 inquiries.

During the fourth parliamentary session, nine new bills were passed into laws. These include the Pre-school and School Education, the State Intelligence Agency Act, the Military Intelligence Act, the Accounting Act, the EU Funds Management Act, the Insurance Code, the State Budget Act, the National Health Insurance Act and the Public Social Insurance Act.

Also, the legislature adopted revisions to the Constitution, the Penal Code, the Special Surveillance Means Act, the Medical Establishments Act, the Asylum and Refugees Act. MPs voted a statement in connection with an invitation extended to Montenegro to join NATO.

Records show that Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov answered 60 questions, Regional Development Minister Liliyana Pavlova 45, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Roumyana Buchvarova 40, Agriculture Minister Dessislava Taneva 38 and Education Minister Todor Tanev 23.
