Danube's Low Water Level Makes Navigation Difficult along Bulgarian Section

Rousse, on the Danube, December 28 (BTA) - Navigation along the Danube's Bulgarian section is difficult due to the low water level, said here on Monday the head of the River Supervision - Rousse Directorate, Ivan Zhekov. There are currently no stuck vessels.

There are four critical sections along the river - near Belene, Batina and the deltas of the Yantra and Popina rivers, where the navigable area is limited.

The captains of ships must take into account the depth in those critical sections, which varies between 2.20 metres and 2.40 metres.

The Executive Agency for Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River reports that the water level near Rousse was 58 cm on Monday and is expected to drop by another 5 cm over the next two days.
