Half of Bulgarians Unable to Face Unexpected Financial Expenses -Eurostat

Sofia, February 17 (BTA) - Half of the population of Bulgaria is unable to face unexpected financial expenses, according to a Eurostat analysis of the risk of poverty and social exclusion in the EU in 2014.

Hungary, Latvia and Croatia had the biggest percentage, 60 per cent, of people unable to meet unexpected financial expenses, while Sweden, the Netherlands and Luxembourg had the lowest percentage, 20 per cent.

The threshold of unexpected financial expenses varied between 110 euro in Hungary, 160 euro in Bulgaria, 380 euro in Greece, to 1,800 euro in Luxembourg, 1,200 euro in Austria and Finland, and 1,000 euro in the Netherlands, Germany and Ireland.

The biggest risk of poverty and social inclusion in 2014 had Romania, 40.2 per cent, Bulgaria, 40.1 per cent and Greece, 36 per cent. The lowest such risk had the Czech Republic, 14.8 per cent, the Netherlands, 16.5 per cent, Sweden, 16.9 per cent and Finland, 17.3 per cent.
