Bulgarian Tourism Minister Angelkova Participates in Ministers' Roundtable at ITB Berlin

Berlin/Sofia, March 10 (BTA) - Bulgarian Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova was one of the eight high-level speakers invited to participate at a Ministers' Roundtable on "Tourism in the 21st Century: New Business Models in a Digital World" held during the ITB Berlin travel trade show on March 9, Angelkova's Ministry said in a press release on Thursday. The roundtable discussed digitalization opportunities in tourism and was attended by ministers from countries which are digital pioneers. The meeting was moderated by the Secretary General of the UNWTO, Taleb Rifai.

Angelkova noted that tourism is one of Bulgaria's main economic sectors. She stressed the importance of meeting the challenges of the future and outlined what Bulgaria has done so far in the area of digitalization in tourism.

Angelkova also attended the Sixth UNWTO Silk Road Ministers' Meeting where she presented the opportunities for investment in tourism that Bulgaria offers and the measures for their promotion. The meeting was attended by representatives of more than 35 countries and international organizations.

At ITB Berlin 2016 Bulgaria has a stand of nearly 500 sq m showcasing 44 travel companies and municipalities.
