Bulgaria, Montenegro Sign Agreement on Cooperation in Tourism

Sofia/Podgorica, June 15 (BTA) - Bulgarian Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova and Montenegrin Minister of Sustainable Development and Tourism Branimir Gvozdenovic signed in Podgorica an agreement on cooperation in tourism, Angelkova's Ministry said in a press release on Wednesday. In Montenegro Angelkova attends a conference on regional cooperation "Destination as a Brand".

The agreement envisages intensification of the contacts and the bilateral tourism relations. Actions will be undertaken to improve the presentation of cultural and historical traditions and ease two-way tourist exchange.

Bulgarian official statistics show that in January-April 2016 2,000 Montenegrin tourists visited Bulgaria while Bulgarian visitors to Montenegro stood at 1,200. Also planned is the development of joint tourist products for faraway destinations.

At the forum Angelkova received the 2015 Balkan Tourism Personality award as a minister with particular contribution in the development of Balkan tourism. The award was given by the Balkan Alliance of Hotel Organizations.

Attending the conference are representatives of the tourism business from Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Bosnia and Albania.
