PM Borissov, Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se Discuss Potential of Trade, Economic Cooperation

Sofia, June 15 (BTA) - Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se discussed the potential of the trade and economic cooperation between Bulgaria and the Republic of Korea, the government's information service said on Wednesday. This is the first visit to Sofia of a Korean foreign minister since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1990.

At the meeting Borissov said that Bulgaria attaches priority importance to the development of the trade, economic, scientific and technological cooperation with the Republic of Korea. He said that this country is a sustainable and predictable partner of foreign investors, and can offer a skilled workforce and excellent conditions for doing business.

Borissov welcomed the interest of South Korean companies to invest in energy and infrastructure projects, in farming, the automotive sector and ICT in Bulgaria. As especially promising the Prime Minister singled out the investments in manufacturing. He said that the two countries have big potential in the development of the relations in tourism and noted Bulgaria's interest in Korea's experience in ensuring energy security, which is a priority of the Bulgarian government.

The Korean Foreign Minister said that Bulgaria is a key partner of his country not only in Southeast Europe but also in the EU. Yun Byung-se said that the investment climate in Bulgaria has strong advantages, especially in the area of computer software with some of the best experts in this sector. He said that thanks to this Bulgaria could prove a good partner and attractive destination for big, as well as small- and medium-sized South Korean companies from the ICT sector.
