Government Provides Extra LV 44 Mln for Completing Construction of Fence on Border with Turkey

Sofia, June 15 (BTA) - The government approved additional financing to the amount of 44 million leva for completing the construction of a fence on the border with Turkey, said the government press office Wednesday. The money will go to complete a 61 km fence and an access road.

The floor leader of the nationalist Patriotic Union, Valeri Simeonov, told the press that with this government decision all the money that is needed to finish the fence construction has been provided. A total of 130 km of fence has been built so far and another 40 km will be added before the end of July, he said. The whole border deterring facility will be 230-240 km long once all of it is completed.

Simeonov said that the government decision for providing additional financing for a fence stretch running along the Rezovska River in Bourgas Region was made after he talked to Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov.

The construction of the fence has already absorbed over 100 million leva, according to various reports.
