Opening the forum on Monday, Economy Minister Bozhidar Loukarski said that an industrial zone can be successfully developed in Yambol. "To achieve sustainable growth and attract more investments in the region, we have to work towards improving the economy's competitiveness and its restructuring into a knowledge economy by strengthening the interaction between industry and science," he noted.

According to Regional Development and Public Works Minister Liliyana Pavlova, the construction of Trakia Motorway and the renovation of the road infrastructure changed drastically this part of Bulgaria in terms of GDP and employment opportunities in the last several years alone. She recalled that thanks to the resources under EU funds in the previous programming period, the territory of Yambol saw the implementation of investments worth around 100 million leva in the modernization of the urban environment, the water and road infrastructure, as well as the educational, cultural and tourism infrastructure.
