Prime Minister Borissov Calls for Making Black Sea Demilitarized Zone

Stara Zagora, South Bulgaria, July 9 (BTA) - Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said here on Saturday that he will propose to the other EU countries that the Black Sea is turned into a demilitarized zone. "Let there be patrols, but let there be also business and tourism," he noted, adding that this is a priority for him.

The Prime Minister voiced hope that there will be a decision about Bulgaria's Schengen accession by this year's end, but in his words, the reality is such that Bulgaria is already part of Schengen.

According to Borissov, the Bulgarian delegation at the NATO Summit in Warsaw has a concept approved by Cabinet and he does not expect any pressure to change the position. "I have been a fighter my whole life , but I know that bad peace is better than a good war," he commented.

There is no increased refugee pressure along the Bulgarian border, according to the latest data. Close to 400 human traffickers have been detained, he said.

The Prime Minister attended the opening of a regional waste management centre near the village of Rakitnitsa.
