Bulgarian Head of State Urges for Increase of Bilateral Economic, Cultural Exchange  with India

Ulaanbaatar, July 15 (BTA) - President Rosen Plevneliev met with Indian Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari in Ulaanbaatar on Friday. They are here for the 11th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM). Details of the meeting were publicized by the President's Press Secretariat.

The two were unanimous that institutions in Bulgaria and India should promote political dialogue and restore the good traditions of bilateral economic and cultural cooperation.

After its accession to the EU, Bulgaria is in the process of modernization of its economy and has won the confidence of world leaders in the area of information and communication technologies and the outsourcing industry. India can also avail itself of that opportunity," said President Plevneliev.

On his part, Ansari said that the Indian companies show interest in Bulgaria and the region of Southeastern Europe, which are an attractive destination for the establishment of new partnerships.

Plevneliev expressed solidarity with India regarding terrorism problems and underscored that the country supports the quick completion of the negotiations on the adoption of a Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism on the initiative of the Indian Government.

The sides noted the good cooperation between Bulgarian and India within the UN and other international organizations. Plevneliev confirmed the country's principled position in support of India's candidacy for permanent membership in the extended format of the UN Security Council and voiced hope that the partnership between the two countries will continue.
