PM Says GERB Is Ready to Reconsider Presidential Candidate Because of International Situation

Sofia, July 22 (BTA) - GERB is ready to reconsider its nominee for president, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said before Nova TV Friday morning. The reason is the situation in the world which has changed in recent days. The nominee should be a unifying figure, someone capable of balancing the nation.

Whether GERB  will remain in power or the Prime Minister will request new elections will also depend on the outcome of the elections, Borissov said in the interview.

"The presidential elections are the last thing I care about now because we will have to solve extremely difficult problems in the months before the elections," the Prime Minister was adamant, but nevertheless admitted that the presidential elections will be a vote of confidence or no confidence.

"There will be changes in the cabinet on the basis of the results from the elections. If GERB loses at in by-elections I will withdraw GERB from power and leave the others to govern if they want to," Borissov said. "If we win in the elections then we will try to form an even better cabinet and ministers will be changed," he specified.
