Gallup Poll: Bulgarians Don't Expect Developments in Turkey to Affect Their Life

Sofia, July 22 (BTA) - In the week following the failed coup attempt in Turkey, Bulgarians are concerned that the situation there will deteriorate, but at the same time do not see how their life could be affected by developments in that country, or rather, they do not foresee a change in bilateral relations.

These are the findings of a telephone survey conducted by Gallup International among 822 respondents across Bulgaria on July 20-21.

Asked about the risk of new conflicts in Turkey, 20 per cent said it was decreasing, while 70 per cent said it was growing. Women, better educated people and those with a higher social status expressed greater concern.

As to the effect of the situation in Turkey on their life, 27 per cent expect it to be affected, while 69 per cent hold the opposite view.

Sixty per cent of respondents do not expect any changes in Bulgarian-Turkish relations.
