National Bulgarian IT School Team Wins Gold at Central-European IT Olympiad in Romania

Sofia, July 25 (BTA) - The national Bulgarian IT school team won two gold, one silver and one bronze medals at the Central-European IT Olympiad held in Piatra Neamt, Romania, in July 18-23.

Encho Mishinev, an 11-grade pupil in the Maths School in the Southern City of Yambol, won a gold medal and placed first in the final standings. Hristo Venev, a 12-grade pupil in the Sofia Maths School, too won a gold medal and placed second in the final standings. Eight-grade pupil in the Maths School in the Black Sea city of Varna Alexander Krustev won silver while 12-grade pupil in the Sofia Maths School Daniel Atanassov won bronze.

The team is coached by Emil Klevedjiv, senior research associate in the Institute of Mathematics and IT with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, and Anton Shikov, who heads an IT training centre.

The team's participation in the Olympiad was made possible with support from the America for Bulgaria Foundation.
