Socialists, Industrial Association: There Is Strong Concern for Poor State of Economy, Low Productivity

Sofia, July 25 (BTA) - There is a strong concern in the society for the lack of justice, the poor state of the economy and the low productivity. This was a conclusion drawn by the leaderships of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and the Bulgarian Industrial Association (BIA) that had a meeting on Monday. The meeting was held on the initiative of BSP Chairperson Kornelia Ninova.

BSP presented the idea of the drafting of a national plan on Bulgaria's development and sought expert opinion from BIA. The priorities, set forth in this plan, include legitimate business, free competition, education, related to the economy, healthcare and environment protection. The protection of working people's rights were also discussed at the meeting. BSP quoted figures showing that around 12,000 workers in the country have not received their salaries.

Sasho Donchev, Chairman of the BIA Management Board, voiced hope that the meeting will mark the beginning of a new dialogue that will have a real and not a PR effect. According to the BIA, the reasons for the poor condition of the economy and the feeling of injustice are related to the misfunctioning of the judiciary and the "swamp" of legal acts. There is no free competition in Bulgaria but there are imperfect laws, said Donchev. In his opinion, for 25 years now there have been only corruption and stupid decisions in the energy sector.

On her part, Ninova said that legislation is influenced by lobbyism and also inconsistent and creating hindrances to the business.
