Prime Minister Borissov Opens New Coast Line Monitoring Centre at Varna's Naval Academy

Varna, on the Black Sea, August 6 (BTA) - Prime Minister Boyko Borissov opened here on Saturday a new centre for coast line monitoring and integrated management at Varna's Naval Academy. The project is valued at close to 1.2 million euro and was implemented in partnership with the Black Sea Basin Directorate and the Varna regional administration. Among the guests who attended the opening were Environment Minister Ivelina Vassileva, Minister of Defence Nikolay Nenchev, representatives of the local authorities, members of the military and public figures.

The complex, which was built at the Naval Academy, allows to visualize in real time the processes taking place at sea. It also has a centre for preventing and predicting oil spills, as well as a laboratory for testing the sea water. The information system allows management and coordination of various operations, including coast guard control, sea search and rescue, dealing with oil spills, etc.
