Investment Funds' Assets in Bulgaria Reach Lv 2.2355 Bln in June

Sofia, August 19 (BTA) - The assets managed by resident and non - resident investment funds operating in Bulgaria totalled 2.2355 billion leva as of end-June 2016, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) reported on Friday.

They have decreased by 17 million leva (0.8 per cent) year-on-year (from 2.2185 billion), while the registered drop since March 2016 amounts to 149.3 million leva (6.3 per cent). The total amount of resident and non-resident investment funds assets equated to 2.5 per cent of GDP as of end-June 2016, the central bank reported.

The assets of resident investment funds amounted to 859.9 million leva as of end-June 2016, increasing by 11.7 million leva ( 1.4 per cent) year-on-year.

As of end-June 2016, bond funds held the largest share (43.7 per cent) of the assets of resident investment funds. Equity funds held 35.5 per cent of total assets.

Regarding the geographical breakdown of the securities held by resident investment funds, the investments in Bulgaria increased by 120.2 million leva (38.2 per cent) year-on-year, reaching 435.2 million leva as of this June, whereas those invested in other EU countries grew by 9.7 million leva ( 8.3 per cent) to 125.8 million leva, BNB said.
