PM Holds Working Meeting with Leadership of  Interior Ministry, Refugee Agency  and Security Services

Sofia, November 28 (BTA) - Outgoing Prime Minister Boyko Borissov met with the operational leaderships of the Interior Ministry, the State Agency for Refugees, Border Police and the security services on Monday morning to discuss the implementation of an action plan for dealing with emergencies caused by the migrant pressure, said the government press office. It transpired at the meeting that a procedure has started for voluntary return to Afghanistan of 80 citizens of that country with another 200 to follow them after their documents are handled.

The competent authorities told the Prime Minister that after unrest late last week the situation at the Harmanli migrant centre is back to normal thanks to tighter security and increased heath care personnel at the facility.

The capacity of two other migrant reception centres, in Pustrogor and Lyubimets, is being increased to provide conditions for transferring inhabitants from the Harmanli centre.

The meeting considered the option of redesigning former Border Police barracks near the Bulgarian-Turkish border, to turn them into migrant centres. These will be closed facilities and the security will be provided by Interior Ministry officers.

It has been figured out how much it will cost to provide food and normal living conditions for the inhabitants of the future facilities, and the financing that the State Agency for National Security and the Interior Ministry will need to handle all these cases.
