Healthy Migrants from Harmanli Refugee Centre Once Again Permitted to Leave Premises
Harmanli, South Bulgaria, December 8 (BTA) - The State Agency for Refugees reported on Thursday that migrants who have undergone medical exams and are clinically healthy are now allowed to leave the refugee centre in Harmanli. A total of 1,331 migrants have undergone medical exams, the centre said.
The centre was quarantined on November 21 until full medical screening is conducted. Healthy migrants will be allowed to leave the premises between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm through the main gates.
Asylum seekers who were found to be at risk of contagious diseases will be accommodated in separate living quarters at the centre and treated, the Agency explained. The medical screening will continue until everyone accommodated at the facility has undergone a medical exam.
The quarantine at the centre was the cause of a riot on November 24, which resulted in dozens of injured police officers and arrested migrants.
